The Edogawa Rampo Prize is an award for unpublished novels and is considered to be the entry gate to become a writer of mystery fiction. The winner receives a statuette of Edogawa Rampo (at first it was a Sherlock Holmes statuette), 10 million yen, and the winning work will be published by Kodansha. Since 1992, Fuji Television adapts the winning work into film or drama.
