Cover of 乱れからく. The cover design are drawings of different mechanisms, a house that looks like a toy, a statue with a key and some mathematic formulas.

Book review: 『乱れからくり』by Tsumao Awasaka

Several elements prevented me from really enjoying this mystery novel centred around mechanical devices and toys manufacturing.

Cover of the book 細い赤い糸. The cover is black with the drawing of a woman (head only) looking to the left. There is also the drawing of what I identify as the lower body of a woman (we only see the legs and the skirt). The composition is quite strange with the head on the left, and the lower body sort of hanging from the top border of the cover.

Book review: 『細い赤い糸』by Takashi Asuka

Winner of the MWJ Award of 1962. I found this book frustrating to read at first, because it was hard to see where the story was leading us. I started enjoying it more about halfway through and the end was quite good.

The cover of 人喰い. The cover is very simple: on a completely black background, two thick horizontal blue lines and the name of the author and the title of the book written in red on the black background. No illustration.

Book review: 『人喰い』by Saho Sasazawa

A simple mystery novel that won the Mystery Writers of Japan Award. Even though the end might be a bit foreseeable, the mystery is a pleasant read all along.

『七つの会議』by Jun Ikeido

A nice corporate thriller, but also my least favourite Jun Ikeido so far, especially because one chapter felt quite weak to me.

📖 Started a Korean novel. I had to look up a lot of words so I haven’t progressed much (only read 30 pages), but things start to get smoother.
🪛There was a problem with my aquarium light that I managed to solve, so everything is working well now.

🌳 Walk in the woods. It was quite pleasant and refreshing. Also saw a squirrel, but I was not quick enough to take a picture of it, so instead, this is just a picture of the trail we took.
